Molly and her friends have been getting together to do so many fun activities! They've done things like dancing, tennis, bike riding, watching shows, D & D, crafts, and more. Recently, they had a giant baking day to make French and Spanish treats. They made cream puffs, crepes, arroz con leche, and strawberry milk. Yum!
The BYU Illustration show is always one of my favorites. I need to remember to go right when it opens next year, because there's always a few students that have already taken their work home if you go even a little later. I need to get over my dislike of going to campus around graduation :)
Elliott and his team won the fifth grade level of the Battle of the Books this year! Elliott worked so hard to read all twenty of the books, and two of his team members also read 12+ books. Very luckily, his team captain memorized all of the authors, because that was the part Elliott was having a hard time with.
Miles is seventeen years old now! Here's a little bit more what he's like right now:
*Miles loves all sorts of foods. Most of the way that we celebrated his birthday was actually with food, from graham cracker pancakes to a grandparent birthday lunch at Smoked Taco to an entire Argentine asada for dinner. We did his dessert the next day and had passion fruit bars and a vanilla ice cream with sweet cherries and brownies.
*He's doing so well with such a tough schedule. BC Calculus has been so hard this year but he's learned so much, and then he's also done great with AP English and US History and then a bunch of other classes that aren't necessarily easy (web development, Japanese, photography, and seminary)
*Miles loves climbing. He's getting really good at it and routinely climbs V4s and V5s bouldering and 5.11d on top rope.
*He is a master of slang. You may or may not know what he is saying at any given time :)
*Miles is a great driver. He's been very safe and it's so nice to trust him to get himself safely to violin lessons in Orem and climbing in Provo every week and then to school every day(close, but full of other crazed teenage drivers, so almost scarier).
*Miles and Elliott are the best of bros. These two are always coming up with some new joke and routinely have to be reminded to go to sleep because they are just having too much fun.
*He doesn't always remember to read, but he does love to read when he starts! He loves a good adventure/outdoor based non-fiction or adventure-based fiction.
We went up to Idaho Falls for two very fun events: the Marshall family school play and Anne's and Eliza's baptisms! Emily was directing and doing the costumes, and then Will was Mufasa, Charlie was Ed the hyena, and Anne and Eliza were in the chorus. Joel also made some amazing set pieces like Pride Rock!
We started our trip to Idaho Falls with a grocery store lunch. No one could decide on a lunch and when I was thinking of what store would have the most of those options, I realized that the answer was honestly Macey's. It meant people could get sushi AND ribs AND potato wedges AND fruit AND a wrap AND a milkshake to share and I tihnk we will do this again!
