I really did not get to do much sewing this fall. First, the embroidery project really ate up most of September when I thought it would be done mid-August at the latest. Second, everyone had a pretty complicated Halloween costume this year! Here's the few things I did make:
Project One: Liesl & Co Bento Tee and True Bias Dani Pants
I've had the pants on my radar for a long time. I'm trying to ease into making pants and these ones seemed like a good choice because I could do the zipper fly, but also the waist is elastic so it would be less scary to fit them. They are super-comfy! I had to put them away for the winter because the fabric is lighter weight, but I can't wait to bring them back when the temperature gets back into the 50s. The t-shirt is one that I've made the children's version for Molly multiple times, but never the adult one. It's one of my new favorites. It's a new color of the modal jersey that I use for all of my t-shirts.
Project Two: Two Lunchbox Tees for Molly
Like I said, I've made the kid's version for Molly a lot! I added a ruffle to the sleeve to look like a J.Crew t-shirt that Molly and I liked, and made her one version in this paintbrush stripe tri-blend and one in my favorite modal jersey.
Project Three: Gingham True Bias Mave Skirt
I saw several cute tiered gingham skirts at the start of the summer and decided to make my own. I meant to make it as a casual skirt for summer, but it was well-past too cold for that when I finished it mid-November. It's still cute with tights and boots! I looked everywhere for a gingham that didn't read too "tablecloth" and I love this watermelon and tan gingham linen.
Project Four: One heavily hacked Croquet dress for Molly
Does this look like a traditional Christmas dress? No, but it does look like something that Molly loves and will wear all the time. She found a dress she loved online, and I realized that the basis of the bodice was very similar to the embroidered dress I was making her at the time. I let her pick her very favorite fabric, and then figured out what hacks I would need to make to the pattern to make it the same as the dress online. In this case, I made a ruffle that went over the strap, used a sleeve based on the sleeve from a dress I made for myself earlier this year, and then made a tiered skirt instead of the drop waist skirt from the pattern.
