Another year, another Parade of Homes! We didn't get to a lot of the houses this year between being out of town for a week, Miles having his first job, and then various activities and injuries. I'm going to do something a little different this year and just sort some of my favorite pictures into categories!
Wallpapers of the Parade
I don't have any plans of putting wallpaper in our house, but I sure like looking at it!
I don't think gothic Queen Anne's Lace is an esthetic I was familiar with, but it looks cool!
The Emerald Tile Renaissance
There were easily four bathrooms that used this tile. It's always interesting to see what becomes a micro-trend!
It also photographs very, very differently based on the light in the room, but these are in fact the same tile.
Outdoor Spaces
Some parade homes are on relatively small lots but some of them have very large, beautiful yards.
This yard did a great job of making a large yard into cozy spaces.
Swings AND tables AND couches AND firepits!
This is an ADJUSTABLE DEPTH pool at the bottom of that giant waterslide, and a sunken poolside firepit. This same yard also had great play equipment and a huge garden.
Picture Windows
Who needs art when the view outside your window is this pretty? Several windows were clearly planned directly because of the view.
Can You Spot the Rifle Paper Co?
I am personally a huge fan of all things Rifle Paper Co. I've had planners, pencils, fabric, shoes, a swimsuit, and probably other things that I'm forgetting all from their design team. This is apparently a quality I share with Parade of Homes designers.
In this case it's the rug, but the ones below are all the wallpaper.
Or the notepad AND the recipe box.
Textiles
Most of the curtains, rugs, and bedding on the Parade are nice quality and very neutral. I'm always excited to see some that are more interesting. In this case, they were pretty much all in the same house. I wouldn't necessarily want all of these in my house but I appreciate them conceptually.
I would happily put either of these curtains in my own house.
Things So Cool We Own Them
This is a very short category this year, mostly because I haven't had any need to buy furniture or home decor for a very long time at this point.
We do have one of the CubeBots! They're much more fun out of the box.
Things Elliott Liked
Elliott does not particularly like the Parade of Homes overall, but there were a few things he really loved.
Elliott loved this pillow. It's a minky fabric with bunny ears and he would have stayed with it forever.
Elliott's favorite moment of the parade, hands-down, was taking a golf cart up a hilly road when there wasn't enough parking close to the house. It was so hilly that it was like a roller coaster and now he's obsessed with golf carts.
Of course he was a fan of a slide!
Everyone was a fan when we walked out of one of the houses and the Spilled Milk ice cream truck was there, but especially Elliott.
Things Molly Liked
Molly was mostly looking for two categories: rooms for tween/teen girls and nooks. Molly desperately wishes that our house has a nook, but our house doesn't really have any interesting architectural features.
Molly loved everything about this room.
You can't really see it, but there's a beautiful floral pillow on that round white chair and Molly said she would spend all day with that chair and pillow.
A nook under the stairs.
An art display system that I really need to look into for her basement art table.
An exciting hanging chair.
A little wallpapered nook!
This was her favorite because it also had bookshelves.
She decided that a loft is an acceptable nook replacement.
Molly was a big fan of the dresser and also the paintings.
Things Miles Liked
Miles loved the idea of having music in the shower.
If there was a great car parked in the garage, Miles was all about it.
Miles was not so much a fan of this as he was absolutely baffled by this unreachable cupboard.
Miles would love to spend hours on this outdoor swing, which had an amazing view.
These are apparently the Focal Chora speakers. They're very fancy speakers from France, and Miles was thrilled to see them in real life.
Miles would totally go for a dedicated gaming space.
Things I Liked
I like the combination of wallpaper and wall art.
Curtains + light ceiling+ beams+lots of color
Paneling can actually be really pretty in small doses!
I love a black and white tile floor.
There's something about this combination that reads Anne of Green Gables to me.
This was someone's basement kitchen but it was my favorite kitchen of the whole parade. The cabinets are more of a navy than they look in this picture.
Very Chihuly!
I like to imagine sometimes that I'm a wealthy lady who hangs a bunch of original art in her house.
I've never seen such a dense rosebush and I love it!
I really love patterned roman shades.
And finally.....kids being crazy in closets.
Going strong since 2012!
Sometimes you find weird art in the closet.
It never fails to surprise me when Elliott can fit into unnaturally small spaces.
Some houses don't let you into their closets
Belileve it or not, this picture was taken in a closet.
